Why is the liver called the main chemical laboratory of the body?

The liver has many important functions in the body. It, using chemical reactions, neutralizes all toxins and other substances that enter the body, making them safe. In addition to the neutralizing function, there is a synthetic function. This means that many important substances for life are synthesized in the liver. So, all enzymes that are of protein origin are synthesized there. After eating, the proteins split into amino acids enter the liver, where it re-collects the substances necessary for the body from them. Also, fat is synthesized in the liver, which is stored in the depot. The liver synthesizes glycogen from carbohydrates – a storage substance that is used for energy.
