Why is the modern historical era better or worse than others?

In the modern historical era, a large number of discoveries, mankind uses the knowledge accumulated over the centuries of its history. Thus, we can see the wonders of technology and scientific discoveries. But in previous eras, there was more romanticism, honor, spirit of adventure. The knight had to prove his name and title in battles. Things were created by hand, which endowed them with a particle of the creator’s soul. People talked to each other, told stories about distant lands, composed fairy tales and legends, and did not surf the Internet.
