Why is the popularity of the comedy genre growing during the Second World War?

The Great Patriotic War lasted for a long time, and for such a long time the most important criterion that increased the chances of victory was the morale of the people. It was important for the country to preserve the old optimism and patriotism, and thanks to this genre it was possible to distract the people from exhausting circumstances at least for a while in order to restore at least part of the emotional resources before the next wave of difficulties.
