Why is the rain gauge installed at a height of 2m from the ground?

The installation height of a device such as a precipitation meter is determined by the climate of the area where it is used. At an altitude of more than 2 meters, the precipitation meter is installed when it is possible to form a high snow cover in order to prevent drift from falling into it, and as a result of a decrease in the accuracy of its readings. Where the snow cover is insignificant or completely absent, the height can be reduced to 0.5 m, since in this case only the splashing of rain drops from the surface affects the error of the instrument readings.
