Why is the reign of Charles 4 significant in the history of the Czech Republic?

Charles IV lived from 1316 to 1378 and ruled from 1346 to 1378 as king of Bohemia, as well as king of Germany, and from 1355 also as emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, that is, he was one of the most influential European rulers of that time.

He was crowned in Aachen in the west of modern Germany.

In 1354-1355 he made campaigns to Italy. As a result, he was crowned king in Milan and emperor in Rome.

He built many objects in Prague: the bridge, the New Town, Hradcany. He founded a university (1348, took the Parisian one as a model) and an archdiocese.

He expanded the territory of the Czech Republic, took control of the city of Javor and Luzhitsa.

Under him, shipping, mining and agriculture developed.
