Why is the share of electricity generated by hydropower plants so high in Norway?

Norway has a large number of lakes, reservoirs, waterfalls and rivers with steep slopes, which do not require the construction of expensive dams and therefore it is profitable for the country to generate electricity at a hydroelectric power station. It is also worth noting that the water resources in Norway are evenly distributed, which makes it possible to use the energy produced even on small rivers with benefit.
