Why is the unit of quantity of heat the same as the unit of work?

For any physical system (body), energy is the ability to perform any work, therefore work and energy will have the same unit of measurement – joule (J). The change in mechanical energy will always be numerically equal to the change in mechanical work (only the internal energy of the body will be converted into work or into other types of energy with losses).
