Why is there no tropical belt in Europe?

Mainland Europe has a fairly northerly location. The extreme territories of this continent are covered by a subtropical belt. But the tropical climatic (or geographic) zone is located much further south. In the direction of Europe, the border for the tropics is the Southern Sahara. In general, the territory of mainland Europe is located in three zones. Some southern areas belong to the subtropics, then the temperate zone begins, which in the north changes to subarctic.
