Why is Venus called the evening and morning star?

Venus can be called the third brightest celestial body visible from Earth. It is most clearly visible in the morning and in the evening, when the sun’s rays reflected from it at a certain angle hit us on Earth. Due to its great distance from Earth, Venus resembles a large star, not a planet. Precisely because people observed a bright “star” in the morning and evening, it was called the Evening and Morning Star.
