Why is water necessary for the reproduction of mosses and ferns?

Water is an important factor for the development of many plants. However, only for mosses, ferns and other spore plants does it become a decisive factor in the reproduction process. This is due to the fact that spores need to get nutrients from somewhere, and they borrow them from the environment in a form dissolved in water. It is for this reason that plants of these species are so common in humid and hot regions of the Earth. If there is not enough fluid, then the spores will die, fertilization will not occur, i.e. the plant will not be able to give new individuals.
