Why should slavery be prohibited in modern society?

In the modern world, most countries have developed economies, so there is no need for slavery. In ancient times, the economy was not so developed, so people often went into slavery in order to be able to survive. The presence of slavery inhibits the development of monetary relations, without which the modern state cannot exist. Also, in almost all countries, people are equal before the law, they have personal freedom.
