Why should we include both animal and plant foods in our diet?

Animal foods are high in protein, essential fats and fat-soluble vitamins, as well as iron and other important trace minerals. Plant food contains water-soluble vitamins – C, B, as well as fiber, which contributes to proper, high-quality digestion. Fruits contain pectin, which is also essential for life. Dairy products are a source of calcium and protein.
