Why stones do not possess the properties of metals?

Metals have their own properties only because they are composed of chemical elements, whose electronic shell determines these properties. And stones are mainly composed of oxides such as silicon, aluminum, magnesium, calcium and other elements. In oxides, a covalent bond is established, which does not provide for the free movement of charges. And only metals have a metallic bond, which is capable of giving substances such properties as electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, density, luster, malleability, and others.
