The Great French Revolution was so called because during it the old order was completely changed, a republican form of government was established in the country, the monarchy, which had existed for a long time, was overthrown. It was bourgeois in character, since the people who were in power changed: the feudal lords who had previously occupied a dominant position left, and the bourgeois came to replace them.
