Why were craft workshops created?

A workshop is a trade and craft community that united craftsmen from one or several similar professions. Guilds began to appear in the 10th-11th centuries, when there was a separation of handicrafts from agriculture. The city became the center of handicrafts and trade. A new level of development of feudal society is approaching.

The majority of the urban population were artisans who were engaged in the production of tools, weapons, household items, clothing and footwear.

The main task of the workshop was to protect the craftsmen from competition from the peasants who arrived in the city. Also, shop charters were written, which regulated the relationship between the craftsmen, tracked the quality of products and the prices of products.
