Why were the pyramids needed? Why did the Egyptians build them? Count how many thousands of years have passed since the construction of the pyramids to the journey of Herodotus to Egypt?
The pyramids were needed in order to bury the pharaoh there. So the Egyptians erected huge pyramids by their ruler, in order to thereby emphasize his greatness. The last pyramids were built around 1500 BC, and Herodotus’ journey took place in 450 BC. Thus, we can say that from the construction of the pyramids to the journey of Herodotus (1500 – 450) = 1050 years passed.
