Why were tombs and temples built of stone and houses of short-lived material?

Tombs and temples in Ancient Egypt were built from expensive, durable stone, and houses from short-lived material, because different segments of the population became the initiators of the construction. The vast tombs were built by order of the pharaohs. Pharaoh is the ruler of Egypt. He had much more privileges and wealth. Ordinary residents lived simply. Their houses were built of mud bricks and covered with straw. They would not have enough funds for stone buildings, because they did not receive them along with the nobles and scribes.
