Why weren’t the peasants invited to the meeting of the states-general?

The Estates-General, a collection of estates in France, was formed in the Middle Ages. The first assembly was convened in 1302. It consisted of an assembly of three chambers. The first is the clergy, the second is the nobility, and the third is the representatives of city councils. In the states-general, peasants were not allowed, since they were dependent on the feudal lords, and the states-general were always the body representing the propertied strata of French society, that is, ordinary people who were not very rich had little influence and were not invited.
