Why weren’t the peasants invited to the States General?

The states-general were the assembly of estates in France. There were three estates in these states: the first was the clergy, the second was the nobility, and the third was the townspeople. The peasantry was not included in this assembly, because it was a stratum of the population dependent on the feudal lords, which did not have any rights. This did not allow them to take part in such organizations. The States-General could include representatives of the society who have some kind of property.
