Why weren’t there massive protests against the government in the USSR?

There were significant uprisings against the Soviet regime, it is especially worth considering the peasant revolts, when collectivization began in 1928 and rural workers defended their property and the right to earn money. However, they could not spread much, because the repressive apparatus worked very well in the USSR, and therefore all those who disagreed with the decisions of the authorities were subjected to repression. At best, they managed to emigrate, in the rest they were either exiled to remote corners of the Soviet Union, or shot.
