Will the quotient and remainder change if the dividend and divisor are tripled?

Division is the inverse arithmetic operation of multiplication, by means of which it is known how many times one number is contained in another;

The number that is being divided is called the dividend, the number by which it is divided is called the divisor, the result of the division is called the quotient;

Using a simple example, consider whether the quotient and remainder change if the dividend and divisor are increased by three times;

1 ÷ 1 = 1;

Now we will increase the dividend and the divisor by three times;

3 ÷ 3 = 1;

The result is the same;

Let’s check the case with the remainder:

5 ÷ 3 = 1 (rest 2);

Also increase by three;

15 ÷ 9 = 1 (rest 6);

The quotient has changed in the part of the remainder, that is, the remainder has tripled;

Conclusion: if the dividend and the divisor are increased by the same number of times, then in the quotient the remainder will increase by the same amount.
