Wire length 50 meters. At first, they cut off 8 meters from it, with a stalemate of 7 meters. How many meters of wire are left.

Method number 1.

We find out how many meters of the wire were cut from the total number of meters in two times:

1) 8 m + 7 m = 15 m – cut for the first and second time.

We find out the remainder of the wire, if we subtract from the indicated total number of meters of wire the amount that was cut off in two times:

2) 50 m – 15 m = 35 m.

Bottom line: 35 meters left.

Method number 2.

We find out how many meters are left after 8 m was cut off from the wire:

1) 50 m – 8 m = 42 meters.

For the second time, there are only:

2) 42 m – 7 m = 35 meters.
