The clergy were considered the upper class, which received privileges from the ruler. For this they had to support the decisions of the monarch. Representatives of the clergy carried on propaganda among the population that the king was God’s chosen one. As a result, the authority of the tsar increased, the population began to trust him more, to agree with some decisions. This led to the centralization of power, the expansion of the powers of the king, with which the influence of the church grew.
