Write an expression for the length of an open polyline ABCD, if AB = x cm, BC is 2.93 cm less, and CD is 4.31 dm more than AB, and simplify it.

2.93 cm = 0.0293 m
4.31 dm = 0.431 m
AB + BC + CD = x + (x – 0.0293) + (x + 0.431) = 3x + 0.4017 (cm).
Answer: 3x + 0.4017 cm.
