Write down the reaction equations: Al2O3 – AlCl3- Al (OH) 3- Al2O3- Al2 (SO4) 3
In order to implement the presented chain of reactions in the task, we need to carry out four chemical reactions.
1) Trivalent aluminum oxide enters into a chemical reaction with hydrochloric acid. Formed salt aluminum chloride and water.
Al2O3 + 6 HCl = 2 AlCl3 + 3 H2O
2) Next, to pass the chain, take the silver chloride salt and add sodium hydroxide to it. We get sodium chloride salt and aluminum hydroxide.
AlCl3 + 3 NaOH = 3 NaCl + Al (OH) 3
3) For the next reaction, we need the aluminum hydroxide we obtained. We carry out the reaction of its decomposition into trivalent aluminum oxide and water.
2 Al (OH) 3 = Al2O3 + 3 H2O
4) A chemical reaction takes place between substances such as trivalent aluminum oxide and hexavalent sulfur oxide. We get a complex salt of trivalent aluminum sulfate.
Al2O3 + 3SO3 = Al2 (SO4) 3.
