Write down the reaction equations. Mg → MgO → MgCI₂ → Mg (OH) ₂

In order to carry out the above chain of transformations, we need to carry out three reactions:

1) The reaction takes place between substances such as magnesium and oxygen. As a result of the reaction, a substance called magnesium oxide is formed. This reaction proceeds as a compound. The molecular equation of the reaction can be written as follows:

2 Mg + O2 = 2 MgO

2) The reaction takes place between substances such as magnesium oxide and hydrochloric acid. magnesium chloride salt is formed and water is released. The chemical reaction equation looks like this:

MgO + 2 HCl = MgCl2 + H2O

3) and the last reaction in this chain is the production of magnesium hydroxide from magnesium chloride. To do this, we need to carry out the reaction of the magnesium chloride salt with water. Also, as a result of this reaction, sodium chloride salt is formed. The exchange reaction is written as follows:

MgCl2 + 2 NaOH = Mg (OH) 2 + 2 NaCl.
