Write down the rights and obligations of a citizen of a Greek polis?

The rights and obligations of free citizens of the Greek city states were closely interrelated. Often, the right was both an obligation and vice versa.

The resident of the policy had the right:

– Engage in any activity. Basically it was agriculture or livestock raising. Some were involved in trade or craft.

-Have a land plot and other property / house, tools, household utensils /.

-Participate in the management of the policy. Attend and vote at the People’s Assembly.

-Participate in the defense of the policy, join the militia when there is a threat of enemy invasion.

-Visit the temple, praise the gods.

The duties of the residents of the policy included:

-Work on your land or do other work

– Provide assistance to the policy in the event of an emergency, war, epidemic, natural disaster.

-Follow the decisions of the authorities to comply with the laws.

-Participate in public life, be elected to various positions

-Worship the gods and offer sacrifices to them.

With the help of laws adopted by the National Assembly, the rights of citizens were protected and the fulfillment of their duties was controlled.
