Write the equation for the reactions of combustion in oxygen: a) coal; b) lithium; c) hydrogen sulfide H2S. What are the reaction products?
Combustion reactions are reactions of interaction with oxygen.
Coal- C, lithium- Li, hydrogen sulfide- H2S, oxygen- O2.
Reactions:
1) C + O2 = CO2- carbon dioxide.
2) Li + O2 = Li2O- lithium oxide.
3) 2H2S + 3O2 = 2SO2 + 2 H2O.
SO2 – sulfur dioxide (sulfur oxide IV).
H2O – water.
