| 1.When calcium burns, calcium oxide is formed.
2Ca + O2 = 2CaO.
2. Calcium oxide is a basic oxide, when interacting with water forms a base – calcium hydroxide.
CaO + H2O = Ca (OH) 2.
3. Calcium hydroxide – alkali, reacting with acidic oxide (carbon monoxide), forms calcium carbonate and water.
Ca (OH) 2 + CO2 = CaCO3 + H2O.
4. When calcium carbonate interacts with hydrochloric acid, calcium chloride, water and carbon dioxide are formed.
CaCO3 + 2HCl = CaCl2 + H2O + CO2 ↑.
