Ethane – acetylene – benzene – hexachlorane
C2H6 = H2 + H2C = CH2 – dehydrogenation, ethylene obtained;
Н2С = СН2 = Н2 + С2Н2 – acetylene was formed during dehydrolgenation;
3C2H2 = C6H6 – trimerization occurs on a hot carbon catalyst, benzene is obtained;
С6Н6 + 3Cl2 = C6H6Cl6 – addition, hexachlorane is released.
The given reactions show the relationship between saturated, unsaturated, aromatic hydrocarbons. The final product, hexachlorane, is used in agriculture as an insecticide.
