Write the reaction equation: CaC2– C2H2– C2H4– C2H5OH

This chain of transformations shows the genetic relationship between inorganic and organic substances.
1) Interaction of calcium carbide with water:
CaC2 +2 H2O = Ca (OH) 2 + C2H2 (calcium hydroxide and acetylene or ethin, exchange reaction);
2) Hydrogenation of acetylene:
C2H2 + H2 = C2H4 (ethylene or ethene, compound reaction);
3) Ethylene hydration:
C2H4 + H2O = C2H5OH (ethanol or ethyl alcohol, compound reaction).
