CaC2 + 2H2O = Ca (OH) 2 + C2H2 – hydration reaction, acetylene obtained;
C2H2 + H2 = C2H4 – addition, ethylene was formed;
H2C = CH2 + H2O = CH3 – CH2 – OH – hydration of ethylene, ethanol is released;
CH3 – CH2 – OH + HBr = CH3 – CH2Br + H2O – interaction with hydrogen bromide, bromoethane was obtained.
These reactions show the connection of inorganic and organic substances, alkynes with alkenes and alcohols. The final product of the reactions, bromoethane, is used as a solvent.
