Write the reaction equation: CH4 – C2H2 – C2H4 – C2H5OH

1) When methane is heated to temperatures above 1400 C, it decomposes into acetylene and hydrogen:
2CH4 = C2H2 + H2
2) As a result of the interaction of acetylene and hydrogen in the presence of a Ni catalyst and with heating, we obtain ethylene:
C2H2 + H2 = C2H4
3) Dissolving ethylene in a solution of sulfuric acid, we get ethyl alcohol:
C2H4 + H2O = C2H5OH
or
H2C = CH2 + H2O -H2SO4- H3C-CH2-OH
