Write the reaction equation: CH4-C2H2-C2H6 – C2H5Cl-C2H4-C2H5OH

We write down the reactions for the following chain of reactions: CH4 – C2H2 – C2H6 -C2H5Cl – C2H4 – C2H5OH. 1) 2CH4 -> C2H2 + 3H2. From methane we get ethyne and hydrogen. 2) C2H2 + 2H2 -> C2H6. Hydrogenation reaction. When ethyne reacts with hydrogen, the result is ethane. 3) C2H6 + Cl2 -> C2H5Cl + HCL. The reaction is called halogenation or substitution. When ethane interacts with chlorine, the result is chloroethane and hydrochloric acid. 4) C2H5Cl + NaOH -> C2H5OH + NaCl. Exchange reaction. When chloroethane and sodium hydroxide react, the result is ethanol and sodium chloride.
