Write the reaction equation: Fe – FeCl2 Fe (OH) 2 – FeO – FeSO4

1) Iron reacts with chlorine, we get iron (II) chloride:

Fe + 3Cl2 → FeCl2;

2) Iron (II) chloride reacts with sodium hydroxide, a precipitate of iron (II) hydroxide and sodium chloride is obtained:

FeCl2 + NaOH → Fe (OH) 2 ↓ + 2NaCl;

3) The precipitate of iron (II) hydroxide decomposes into ferum (II) oxide and water:

Fe (OH) 2 → FeO + H2O;

4) When ferum (II) oxide interacts with sulfuric acid, ferum (II) sulfate and water are formed:

FeO + H2SO4 → FeSO4 + H2O.
