Write the reaction equation: Mg → MgO → MgSO4 → Mg (OH) 2 → MgCl2 → Mg (NO3) 2 → Mg
1) 2Mg + O2 = 2MgO (when magnesium interacts with oxygen, magnesium oxide is formed);
2) MgO + H2SO4 = MgSO4 + H2O (when magnesium oxide interacts with sulfuric acid, magnesium sulfate and water are formed);
3) MgSO4 + 2NaOH = Mg (OH) 2 + Na2SO4 (when magnesium sulfate reacts with sodium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and sodium sulfate are formed);
4) Mg (OH) 2 + 2HCl = MgCl2 + 2H2O (when magnesium hydroxide interacts with hydrochloric acid, magnesium chloride and water are formed);
5) MgCl2 + 2AgNO3 = Mg (NO3) 2 + 2AgCl (when magnesium chloride interacts with silver nitrate, magnesium nitrate and silver chloride are formed);
6) To obtain pure Mg from Mg (NO3) 2, two stages are required:
2Mg (NO3) 2 = 2MgO + 4NO2 + O2 (when heated, magnesium nitrate decomposes into magnesium oxide, nitrogen oxide and oxygen);
MgO + C = Mg + CO (when magnesium oxide interacts with carbon, magnesium and carbon monoxide are formed).
