Write the reaction equation: N2- NH3- (NH4) 2CO3- NH3- (NH4) 2SO4.
In order to carry out the above chain of reactions, we need to carry out four chemical reactions.
1) Nitrogen enters into a chemical reaction with hydrogen. Ammonia is formed.
N2 + 3 H2 = 2 NH3
2) The reaction takes place between substances such as ammonia and carbonic acid. As a result of this chemical reaction, an ammonium carbonate salt is formed and hydrogen is released.
2 NH3 + H2CO3 = (NH4) 2CO3 + H2
3) For the next chemical reaction, we take the obtained ammonium carbonate and decompose it into carbon dioxide, ammonia and water.
(NH4) 2CO3 = CO2 + 2 NH3 + H2O
4) The last reaction that we need for the chain of reactions is the interaction of ammonia and sulfuric acid. We get the salt of ammonium sulfate and hydrogen.
2 NH3 + H2SO4 = (NH4) 2SO4 + H2.
