1. Ammonia, reacting with oxygen, forms nitric oxide (II) and water.
4NH3 + 5O2 = 4NO + 6H2O.
2.Nitrogen oxide (II), reacting with oxygen, forms nitrogen oxide (IV).
2NO + O2 = NO2.
3. Nitrogen oxide (IV), when dissolved in water, forms nitrous and nitric acids.
2NO2 + H2O = HNO2 + HNO3.
4. Nitric acid, reacting with ammonia, form ammonium nitrate.
HNO3 + NH3 = NH4NO3.
