Write the reaction equation: sodium oxide – sodium hydroxide – sodium carbonate – calcium carbonate – calcium bicarbonate – calcium carbonate – calcium oxide
1) Sodium oxide interacts with water, and sodium hydroxide is formed:
Na2O + H2O → 2NaOH;
2) When sodium hydroxide interacts with carbon dioxide, it turns out – sodium carbonate and water:
2NaOH + CO2 → Na2CO3 + H2O;
2Na+ + 2OH– + CO2 → 2Na+ + CO32- + H2O;
2OH- + CO2 → CO32- + H2O;
3) Sodium carbonate reacts with sodium chloride, it turns out – a precipitate – calcium carbonate and sodium chloride:
Na2CO3 + CaCl2 → CaCO3 ↓ + 2NaCl;
2Na+ + CO32- + Ca2+ + 2Cl– → CaCO3↓ + 2Na+ + 2Cl–;
CO32 – + Ca2 + CaCO3 ↓;
4) When calcium carbonate, water and carbon dioxide interact, calcium bicarbonate is formed:
CaCO3 + H2O + CO2 → Ca (HCO3) 2;
5) Calcium bicarbonate decomposes into – calcium carbonate, water and carbon dioxide:
Ca (HCO3) 2 → CaCO3 ↓ + H2O + CO2;
6) Calcium carbonate decomposes into carbon dioxide and water:
CaCO3 → CO2 + H2O.
