Write the reaction equation: Zn (NO3) 2 → Zn (OH) 2 → Na2 [Zn (OH) 4] → Zn (NO3) 2 → NO2

1. Formation of zinc hydroxide:

Zn (NO3) 2 + 2H2O = Zn (OH) 2 + 2HNO3.

2. Reaction of zinc hydroxide with alkali – formation of sodium hydroxozincate:

Zn (OH) 2 + 2NaOH = Na2 [Zn (OH) 4] + 2H2O.

3. Obtaining zinc nitrate is possible in two stages:

Decomposition reaction.

Na2 [Zn (OH) 4] = ZnO + H2O + 2NaOH.

ZnO + 2HNO3 = Zn (NO3) 2 + H2O.

4. Thermal decomposition:

2Zn (NO3) 2 = 2ZnO + 4NO2 + O2.
