| Zinc is a chemically active metal, has pronounced reducing properties, and is inferior in activity to alkaline earth metals. Shows amphoteric properties.
1) Zn → ZnO:
2Zn + O2 = 2ZnO;
2) → ZnCl2:
ZnO + 2HCl = ZnCl2 + H2O;
3) → Zn (OH) 2:
ZnCl2 + 2NaOH = Zn (OH) 2 (precipitate) + 2NaCl;
4) → ZnO:
Zn (OH) 2 = ZnO + H2O
