2. Wacker’s process – obtaining acetaldehyde, catalyst PdCl2.
C2H4 + H2O + PdCl2 = CH3CHO + Pd + 2HCl.
3. Oxidation of ethanal to acetic acid when heated.
CH3CHO + [O] = CH3COOH.
4. Oxidative addition of ethylene to acid in the presence of a palladium salt.
CH3COOH + CH2 = CH2 + 1 / 2O2 = CH3COOH = CH2 + H2O.
