1. CH3Cl + KOH = CH3OH + KCl – exchange reaction, methyl alcohol was obtained;
2. СН3ОН + CuO = HCOH + Cu + H2O – alcohol oxidation with copper oxide, methanal is released;
3. НСОН + Н2 = СН3ОН – addition, methanol was obtained;
