Write the reaction equations Fe- FeCl2 – FeCl3 – Fe (OH) 3- Fe2O3

Ion exchange reactions take place in solutions. They are possible in the event that one of the reaction products precipitates, is a gaseous or low-dissociating substance (water). Therefore, the equations of reactions can be written in ionic form only for reactions 1 and 3.

1) Fe + 2HCl = FeCl2 + H2
Fe + 2H + 2Cl = Fe + 2Cl + H2
Fe + 2H = Fe + H2

2) 2FeCl2 + Cl2 = 2FeCl3

3) FeCl3 + 3NaOH = Fe (OH) 3 + 3NaCl
Fe + 3Cl + 3Na + 3OH = Fe (OH) 3 + 3Na + 3Cl
Fe + 3OH = Fe (OH) 3

4) 2Fe (OH) 3 = Fe2O3 + 3H2O
